It is necessary to create the activities - tasks - in the project as a first step of the project planning. The tasks can be broken down to fine grained activities (we call them subtasks) and can be linked by time constraints e.g. "A roof can't be built earlier as the walls are redy.". The time constraints are usually given by technological or organisatory dependencies between the tasks. We will see later, while resources are being planned, that time constraints can be defined also in order to optimize resource workload.
